Eligibility Criteria for the Joint Supervision Program

  • Nationality and Age

    • The applicant must be a Saudi national and not exceed 35 years of age.

    • The University Council may grant exceptions to this age requirement.

  • Academic Qualification and Employment

    • The applicant must hold a Master’s degree and currently work as a Teaching Assistant or Lecturer at the university.

    • Applicants from other Saudi universities may be considered if their tuition fees are covered by their home university, according to rules set by the University Council.

  • Program Field Alignment

    • The student’s enrollment must be in a program aligned with her academic specialization.

  • Language and Admission Requirements

    • The student must meet the language proficiency requirements set by the foreign university and any additional admission requirements.

    • Completion of the preparatory program for teaching assistants and lecturers organized by the university is required.

  • Acceptance from Partner Universities

    • The applicant must obtain an unconditional acceptance in a split-site format from one of the foreign universities contracted with University of Jeddah, or from any other university ranked within the top 200 of the Times Higher Education rankings.

  • Scientific Publications

    • For applicants who graduated more than five years ago with a Master’s degree, publication of a peer-reviewed scientific paper is required.

  • Research Proposal and Resources

    • The student must clearly define her field of study, the required equipment, and its availability.

    • Preparation of a research proposal approved in the acceptance letter is mandatory.

  • Commitment to External University Rules

    • The applicant must adhere to the policies and conditions of the foreign university, including the required duration to be spent at the foreign institution.

  • University Approval

    • Approval from the relevant departmental and college councils is required to ensure that:

      • The research topic aligns with the overall scholarship plan.

      • There is diversity in research schools for joint supervision students.

      • The percentage of students on the Joint Supervision Program in the department does not exceed 30%.
