Graduation refers to the student obtaining the academic degree they were sent abroad to pursue, whether it’s a master’s, doctorate, medical fellowship, or successfully completing a training program. Once the student receives the required degree or completes their training program successfully, their financial allowance in the host country is stopped. According to Article 27 of the Scholarship and Training Regulations for University Staff: 'The student's allowance is stopped upon obtaining the academic degree.' The allowance is stopped from the date the degree is awarded, even if the scholarship period hasn’t ended—for example, someone sent for a two-year master’s program who finishes the degree in one year.

To prove graduation and receiving the degree, a letter from the university’s registration office (Completion Letter) stating that the student has completed all study requirements and received the degree is sufficient. For internal scholarships, a statement from the Graduate Studies Dean is enough.

This letter is obtained by the student once they submit their final thesis after making all required edits and corrections requested by the examination committee. There’s no need to wait for the actual certificate because it’s commonly understood that the certificate will be sent later. To its owner at their postal address, if they do not come to collect it. The scholarship recipient should close their file at the Saudi Cultural Mission in the country of scholarship if they have obtained the required degree, completed their scholarship, or successfully finished their training program, and this should be done before leaving the mission's premises so the university can settle their dues and pay their salaries and allowances. This depends on the mission's confirmation of the last allowance given and the closure of their file.

Submitting a graduation request: The graduation request is submitted upon receiving a confirmation from the Deanship of Graduate Studies, the Registration Office, or the academic department confirming that they have obtained the degree or received the document. This does not require submission to the relevant councils and committees at the University of Jeddah.

This applies in the following cases: If the scholarship recipient has obtained the degree they were studying for, whether their scholarship was local or abroad, according to Article 27 of the Scholarship and Training Regulations for University Staff, which states: 'Scholarship allowances stop upon obtaining the degree.' If the local scholarship recipient is allowed to print their thesis or has submitted it for discussion, based on Resolution No. (2) of the Permanent Committee for Scholarship and Training. In the third meeting held on 15/08/1439 AH. Documents required to be attached with the application: a copy of the certificate, or graduation letter, or a statement from the Deanship of Graduate Studies or the academic department confirming the attainment of the academic degree.
