Language Proficiency Tests

Jeddah University requires internationally recognized English language tests for admission to postgraduate programs. The accepted tests are as follows:

1. STEP Test

• Administered by the National Center for Assessment (Qiyas).

• Available across various regions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

• Validity: 3 years.

2. TOEFL Test

• Offered through selected institutes with agreements with the authorized body in the United States.

• There are three accepted formats: TOEFL iBT, CBT, PBT.

• Note: TOEFL ITP is not accepted by the university, as it is a practice test and not valid for university admission.

• Validity: 2 years.

3. IELTS Test

• Offered through the British Council.

• Validity: 2 years.

Language Requirements for Master’s Programs

• All master’s programs require an English language proficiency test, except for certain programs and specializations.

• Exemptions from the English language requirement include:

  • Applicants who obtained their degree from a university in an English-speaking country (e.g., USA, UK).

  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, or English Language.

  • Note: This exemption does not apply to applicants for a Master’s in English.
