University staff are sent on scholarship programs domestically and abroad based on what is stipulated in the articles of the Scholarship and Training Regulations for University Staff, and the recommendations of the Permanent Committee for Scholarship and Training, including conditions and procedures that have been clarified on this website.
Article Six of the Scholarship and Training Regulations for University Staff specifies the mechanism through which scholarship procedures are completed, stating: "Scholarships within the Kingdom and abroad are granted by a decision of the University Council based on the recommendation of the Council of the Department and the College or Institute, as applicable, and the Scholarship and Training Committee. The decision includes specifying the academic degree the scholarship recipient will pursue, the general and specific specialization, the duration of the scholarship according to the provisions of Article Seven, and the university where the recipient will study."
Article Four states that: scholarships within the Kingdom and abroad are as follows:
- For a Master's degree only.
- For a Doctorate degree only.
- For both Master's and Doctorate degrees together, taking into account what is stated in paragraph (7) of Article Three.
- For fellowship in medical specialties.
Article Seven specifies the duration of the scholarship as follows:
- One year for language study, and the University Council may extend it to two years if necessary.
