Commencement of Work at the University

The scholarship recipient must commence work at the university within thirty (30) days from the date of completion of their studies, in accordance with Article 188 of the Executive Regulations of Human Resources in the Civil Service, which states:

"The scholarship recipient must commence work within thirty (30) days from the date of completion of their studies."

Electronic Submission

  • The commencement of work is submitted electronically via the “Kafaa – Self-Service” system.

  • The recipient selects “Commencement of Work”, fills out the form, and sends it to their immediate supervisor for approval.

  • The scholarship recipient should select the “Type of Commencement” as either “Completion of Scholarship” and specify the reason in the notes section.

Approval Process

  • Approval by the Scholarships Administration and forwarding to the Human Resources Department requires that the recipient:

    • Submit a Graduation Request if they obtained the degree for which they were sponsored, or

    • Submit a Scholarship Completion Request if they did not obtain the degree.

  • This ensures the settlement of entitlements and closure of the scholarship file.

Special Cases for Internal Scholarships

  • Scholarship recipients studying within the Kingdom may commence work if:

    • They are authorized to print their thesis, or

    • They have submitted their thesis and are awaiting defense.

  • After successful defense and receipt of the degree or a document proving attainment of the degree, the recipient must submit a Graduation Request.

This process is based on the decision of the Permanent Committee for Scholarships and Training (Decision No. 2), taken in its third meeting on 15/08/1439 AH.
