How Is the Competitive Score Calculated for Applicants?

The admission system automatically calculates the competitive score based on the applicant's GPA, aptitude test scores, and English language proficiency. This score is displayed to the applicant during the application process. Additionally, the department's specific score, which is determined after the initial screening of applicants, is added later to the final calculation.

What Is the Minimum GPA Required for Admission to Graduate Studies?

For admission to the Master's program, the student must have a minimum GPA of "Good" (GPA of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale) in their undergraduate studies. Can I Pursue a Doctoral Degree After Earning a Professional or Executive Master's Degree?

This depends on the university offering the doctoral program. Some universities allow admission for holders of a professional master's degree, while others may not. Additionally, some universities may allow admission with the condition of completing certain prerequisite courses.

Are the Master's Programs Accredited by the Civil Service?

Yes, all graduate programs offered by the University of Jeddah are accredited and classified by the Ministry of Civil Service.

Are Non-Saudis Allowed to Apply for Graduate Programs?

Non-Saudis residing in Saudi Arabia can apply for graduate programs when the electronic admission portal opens. Once they are accepted, their data is verified and then submitted to the Ministry of Education to apply for an internal scholarship. They will not be able to begin their studies until the Ministry approves the scholarship.

For non-Saudis applying to professional and executive programs, receiving a scholarship from the Ministry of Education guarantees them a seat in the program. However, this scholarship does not exempt them from tuition fees.

How Are Prerequisite Courses Registered?

Prerequisite courses are determined by the department through a "New Student Information" request. Once approved, the courses are added to the student's schedule by the Deanship.

What Is the Maximum Duration for Completing Prerequisite Courses?

All prerequisite courses must be completed within a maximum of one academic year.

Can a Request for Deferring Study Be Submitted During the Completion of Prerequisite Courses?

A deferral request can only be submitted for one semester during the completion of prerequisite courses.

What Is the Difference Between Deferring Study and Dropping Courses?
  • Deferring Study: This occurs before the academic schedule is registered, meaning the student delays their enrollment for a specific period.
  • Dropping Courses: This happens after the academic schedule is registered, where the student removes specific courses from their enrollment.

Both actions are subject to the academic calendar approved for graduate studies.
