Conditions for the scholarship of teaching assistants and lecturers

 

Based on the provisions of Article V of the Scholarship and Training Regulations for University Employees, the following conditions are required for the scholarship of a teaching assistant or lecturer at home and abroad:

The scholarship of a teaching assistant or lecturer at home and abroad requires the following:

  •  
To be a Saudi national.
  •  
Must have an acceptance from an academically recognized university.
  •  
To accompany the scholarship woman abroad is forbidden to her for the duration of her scholarship.
  •  
The age of the scholarship student should not exceed (30) years for the teaching assistant and (35) years for the lecturer and the University Council shall be exempted from this condition.
  •  
To undertake to work at the university after his return for a period equivalent to the period of his scholarship at least.

 

Additional conditions for scholarship abroad according to the recommendations of the Standing Committee for Scholarship and Training and the directives of the Ministry of Education:

1- The scholarship must be for the scientific degree (master's, doctorate or medical fellowships), while the language is allowed to be studied before the degree if acceptance is conditional on it (i.e. scholarship is not allowed for the language only).

2- If admission is conditional in English, the following conditions are required:

  •  
Obtain a score of (5.5) in the IELTS test or equivalent in TOEFL if the bachelor's or master's study is in English.
  •  
Obtain a score of (4) in the IELTS test or equivalent in TOEFL if the bachelor's or master's study is in Arabic.

3- The university should be among the best (300) universities in the world, except for Australia, which is among the top (200) universities. ACCORDING TO ONE OF THE WORLD RANKINGS (QS), THE TIMES, SHANGHAI (ARWU), OR U.S. NEWS,

Attend passing the "Scholarship Qualification Program".

4- To be sent to prestigious universities in developed countries, recommended by the Ministry of Education, and not suspended due to the overcrowding of Saudi students in them. (1)

 

Scholarship for PhD

"Scholarships to obtain doctoral degrees and medical fellowships for university teaching assistants and lecturers are limited to external scholarships, with the exception of internal scholarships for Sharia majors and Arabic language, scholarships to King Abdullah University of Science and Purification (KAUST) and Saudi medical fellowships, as well as teaching assistants and lecturers who have a previous qualification through external scholarship at the university or the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques program according to compelling justifications for not external scholarship." Based on the decision of the University Council No. (17) taken in its first meeting for the academic year 1444 AH.


Internal scholarship controls for teaching assistants and lecturers at the university (2)

First: General Controls:

  •  
The age of the scholarship student shall not exceed thirty (30) years for the teaching assistant and thirty-five (35) years for the lecturer, and the University Council may exempt from this condition unless the scholarship student exceeds: for a master's degree forty (40) years and for a doctorate degree forty-five (45) years.
  •  
Provide proof that it is not possible to study through external scholarship or joint supervision program*.
  •  
The university to be enrolled in should be one of the prestigious public universities in the Kingdom, provided that the Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research determines a list of universities available in the Kingdom.
  •  
It is not allowed to join the study programs or universities that suffer from the overcrowding of students of the University of Jeddah in them, so the number of scholarship students from a scientific department to a specific university program should not exceed three (3) scholarships, and the University Agency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research updates a list of programs and universities available for registration in the Kingdom based on the overcrowding limits.
  •  
Fulfill the language requirement required by the program to be enrolled.
  •  
Obtaining admission to study at the public university to be enrolled.
  •  
Attending and passing the "Scholarship Qualification Program"

 

Second: Conditions for the approval of the Scientific Department Council and the College Council on internal scholarship:

  •  
Meet all the conditions in the item first.
  •  
Internal scholarship applications for master's degrees are not approved for more than 20% of the total teaching assistants in the department*.
  •  
Internal scholarship applications for the doctorate are not approved for more than 20% of the total teaching assistants in the department*.
  •  
The scholarship holder for the doctoral degree must have at least a scientific research published (or accepted for publication) in a scientific journal or a scientific conference.
  •  
The percentage is calculated annually from the total teaching assistants / lecturers in the department, provided that at least one is accepted if the percentage is less than one *.
  •  
The comparison between applications in each category (teaching assistant / lecturer) is made on the basis of seniority of appointment and then the oldest.

Note:

There is no exception to the scholarship conditions except what has been explained above.
