Attendance of Training Courses and Workshops

Different types of events are considered effective channels for knowledge transfer, introduction of products, innovations, and scientific outputs, as well as for exchanging expertise and developing relationships across universities, government agencies, private and community sectors, both within the Kingdom and internationally.

Training Course

A training course is a scheduled gathering of a group of people to discuss a specific topic with the objective of acquiring or improving skills through participation in practical activities.

Workshop

A workshop consists of focus groups where specialists meet with stakeholders to discuss specific topics, exchange opinions, and derive actionable results that benefit one or more organizations.

Procedures

  1. Submission of Request

    • The university staff member submits a request to attend a training course or workshop to their Department Head, attaching all relevant documentation.

    • The request must include the following information:

a) Personal Information:

  • Full name (Arabic/English)

  • College and Department

  • Academic qualification

  • Academic rank

  • Specialization

  • Employee ID

  • Nationality

  • Civil registry number

  • Phone number

  • Email address

b) Course/Workshop Information:

  • Type of participation (Training Course / Workshop)

  • Internal or external

  • Title of the course/workshop

  • Country and city

  • Dates and duration

  • Name and address of the organizing entity

  • Website of the organizing entity

  • Registration fees

  • Justification for attending

c) Last Scientific Mission:

  • Type of participation (Conference / Seminar)

  • Internal or external

  • Date of participation

  • Decision number and date

  • Topic

  • Was a report submitted for the last mission?

d) Additional Information (if any):

  • Number of scientific papers published by the applicant

  • Journal name, paper title, and publication date

  1. Review and Approval Process

    • The Department Head reviews the request and either approves or rejects it.

    • If approved, the request is forwarded to the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.

    • Upon approval, it is raised to the Dean of the College.

  2. Committee Recommendation

    • A committee comprising the Dean, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Department Head evaluates the request and recommends approval or rejection.

    • Approved requests are forwarded to the Cultural Relations and International Cooperation Unit.

  3. Unit Review

    • The unit reviews the request to ensure compliance with all requirements.

    • If compliant, the request is forwarded to the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, then to the University President for final approval.

  4. Financial and Administrative Processing

    • Once approved by the President, the request is sent to the Planning and Budget Department to process financial entitlements, deputation, and fees.

    • The request is then forwarded to the Human Resources Department, which records and approves it.

    • Finally, the Travel Section issues the travel order and records all related details.

  5. Completion

    • The request is returned to the applicant along with the travel order and any other entitlements.
