The joint supervision program is a flexible scholarship path designed for university lecturers and teaching assistants holding a Master's degree. It enables them to obtain a PhD from international universities through prestigious scientific agreements, fostering joint research and knowledge exchange without the need for full-term residency abroad.
Registration Process
Applications are submitted to the Department Head with required documents for Department Council review. Final registration is approved by the University Council based on recommendations from the College Dean and Graduate Studies. The decision specifies the degree, specialization, duration, and the host international university, which nominates the main external supervisor.
Academic Requirements
1. Applicant must be a teaching assistant or lecturer with a Master’s degree.
2. Registration must be within the applicant's field of specialization.
3. Completion of the university's preparatory program for faculty members.
4. Fulfillment of host university admission criteria, including English language proficiency.
Academic Visits & Support
Students are required to visit the host university (typically 1-2 times annually) for thesis discussion and technical review. The program also supports a one-time scientific trip and participation in a specialized conference. Conversely, the external supervisor may visit the University of Jeddah twice a year to meet with the student and local supervisor.
Evaluation & Certification
The host university manages the thesis defense committee in coordination with the Deanship of Graduate Studies and the local supervisor. Degrees are granted based on the host university’s specific standards and academic regulations.
