Mission Extension

Scholarship Extension Regulations & Procedures

Regulatory Framework (Article X):
The University Council may extend the original scholarship period for one year (Master's) or two years (PhD/Medical Fellowship). An additional maximum of one year may be granted for each stage upon providing convincing academic or medical justifications.

Conditions for Extension

Recommendation from the academic supervisor at the host university.
  •  
Endorsement from the Saudi Cultural Attaché (for external missions).
  •  
Recommendation from the Department and College Councils (Tripartite Committee).
  •  
Approval by the Standing Committee for Scholarship and Training.

Required Documents

  •  
Supervisor's Report: Official letter including progress since registration and expected graduation date.
  •  
Internal Reports: Progress report and interview report prepared by the scientific department at UJ.
  •  
Forms: Extension criteria form and student's personal academic report.
  •  
Language Extension: Official letter from the language institute including scores (TOEFL/IELTS) and hours studied.
  •  
Evidence: Medical reports, transcripts, or justifications for delay (e.g., change of supervisor).

Critical Notes:

Timeline: Applications must be submitted 3 months before the current scholarship end date to avoid stipend suspension.

Duration: Language extension is 6 months; academic extension is 1 year (or less if required).

Effective Date: Extensions begin immediately following the academic stage end date as recorded in the Safiir or Kafa'a systems.
