Joint Supervision Program for the PhD Stage at the University of Jeddah
The joint supervision program is one of the flexible paths for scholarship, which aims to provide the opportunity for university lecturers or teaching assistants with a master's degree to complete their postgraduate studies and obtain a doctorate degree from an international university, in the event that they cannot travel to spend the full period of study outside the Kingdom, and this is through the conclusion of an agreement with one of the international foreign universities.
This program will not only benefit the students of the University of Jeddah, but will contribute to enriching knowledge with various and distinctive scientific additions, and the program will encourage joint scientific research and exchange of experiences between faculty members at the University of Jeddah and foreign universities. This is in addition to attracting the best educational and research expertise through the conclusion of prestigious scientific agreements.
The student submits the application to the direct head of the scientific department supported by the required documents in order to present it to the department council. Registration in the supervision program is carried out by a decision of the University Council based on the approval of the deans of the college and graduate studies and the approval of the permanent committee, and the decision includes determining the student's academic degree, general specialization, specialization, and the external university that will grant the degree and the duration of the study. The external university nominates an external supervisor from the members of its faculty in accordance with its rules and conditions and according to the conditions concluded in the contract or agreement concluded with it, and the external supervisor is the main supervisor of the scientific thesis.
1. The applicant must have a master's degree and work as a teaching assistant or lecturer at the university.
2. The student's registration must be in a program in her field of specialization.
3. The applicant must pass the preparatory program for teaching assistants and lecturers organized by the university.
4. The applicant must meet the admission requirements for foreign universities, including the English language requirement.

Visit of the Academic Supervisor: |
The student is obligated to visit the external university headquarters to meet with the external supervisor and discuss the results reached in the thesis research, and to see the techniques related to the study. The visits are once or twice a year (unless the agreement concluded with the external university or the external university regulations provides otherwise), and the student may take a scientific trip (other than visits) during the period of her study for one time inside or outside the Kingdom. The student is also entitled once during the period of her study to participate in a scientific conference or symposium, provided that it is directly related to her specialization or research topic. The external supervisor may visit the university twice a year (according to the agreement concluded with the university) in order to meet with the student and the local supervisor and to stand on the progress of the student's study and discuss their findings in the thesis research.

Evaluation and certification: |
The external university forms a committee to discuss the scientific thesis and surrounds the student of the Deanship of Graduate Studies and its local supervisor, and the external university grants the degree in accordance with its own conditions and standards, and the decision of the thesis discussion committee is in accordance with the external university rules and regulations.
